What We Treat
Cricket produces a distinctive injury profile — particularly in fast bowlers, batters, and fielders. We treat these with the specificity the sport demands.
The most serious injury in fast bowling — stress fractures of the lumbar vertebrae (commonly L4/L5 pars). Requires specialist management and a structured return-to-bowling protocol.
→ 🦵Explosive running between wickets, diving in the field, and fast bowling delivery stride all place the hamstring under high eccentric load. Grade and location determine management.
→ 💪Internal oblique tears at the rib attachment — almost exclusively a fast bowling injury. Notoriously slow to heal without the right management protocol.
→ 🦶Compression of posterior ankle structures during the delivery stride — particularly relevant to fast bowlers with a front-foot landing pattern. Often mismanaged as an Achilles issue.
→ 💪Throwing, bowling, and fielding all place high repetitive loads on the rotator cuff. Common in bowlers and outfielders managing high workloads.
→ 🏏Tennis elbow is common in batters — particularly those with a strong bottom-hand grip. Wrist extensor degeneration from repetitive batting load through the forearm.
→ 🖐️Dislocations, fractures, and ligament injuries sustained in fielding and wicketkeeping. Early accurate diagnosis determines whether conservative or surgical management is appropriate.

Cricket S&C Program
Led by Dan Mullen — Sydney CC 2nd grade captain, Head of S&C at Sydney Cricket Club, and S&C coach at Riverview — our cricket-specific strength and conditioning program is built for serious players.
Our current program focuses on U19 fast bowlers — developing the physical qualities that allow young bowlers to bowl fast, bowl long, and stay healthy through the season and beyond.
The program integrates physiotherapy oversight with cricket-specific S&C — monitoring workload, managing injury risk, and building the strength, power, and tissue capacity the game demands.
Clinicians Who Play the Game
Our team isn't just experienced in cricket injuries — they're active participants in the Sydney cricket community at the highest club level.
The Team in Action
Our clinicians and coaches aren't just talking about cricket — they're in it.
What Makes Us Different
There are plenty of physio clinics in Sydney. There aren't many where your physio played Premier Grade cricket last weekend.
Prak and Shash play Premier Grade cricket for Sydney CC. Dan captains the 2nd grade side and runs the club's S&C program. This isn't background knowledge — it's lived experience of what the game demands physically.
Lumbar stress fractures, side strains, posterior ankle impingement — these are cricket injuries that require cricket-specific management. We've treated them at elite level and understand the return-to-bowling demands that generic physio doesn't address.
Dan Mullen bridges the physio and performance worlds. Your injury management and physical development happen together — not in separate silos with different people giving conflicting advice.
VALD ForceFrame, AXIT force plates, BTL R Force Anti-Gravity Treadmill, and BTL shockwave device. The testing and treatment tools used at elite level — available at our Five Dock clinic.
As preferred provider for Sydney CC, we're embedded in the club's cricket environment — not an outside service provider. That relationship gives us context that matters when managing players through injury and back to performance.
Our U19 fast bowler S&C program reflects a genuine specialisation in the most injury-prone position in cricket. We understand lumbar stress fractures, workload management, and the physical development pathway for young fast bowlers.
